This post will be short, as I'm getting ready for work. I'm not particularly big on donating money to things, mainly because I have so little of it myself. Also, I've been called selfish plenty of times before, and yes, I AM a fan of Ayn Rand. All that being said, I can't resist a furry face, and the idea of bad things happening to dogs and cats is one of the few things that will get me to open up my wallet. (This is also why there are six or seven cats in my house in GA, even though I'm not even in the US right now.) The most recent organization to which I donated money is the Jacksonville Humane Society. The humane society suffered a devastating fire last month which killed 67 cats and kittens and 19 dogs and puppies. The kennels were damaged and the cattery was completely destroyed. When I first read about this, I literally cried. And then I immediately sent them $100.

As an unapologetic misanthropist, I cannot donate to charities aimed at "2-leggers" but this is different...and though I am not a wealthy man, I will happily match your 100.00. I hope it helps!
Thanks to the firefighters who risked their lives for "non-human life" (though, why is there a distinction ?), to the apparent passer-by who called in fire and to Jane for bringing this story out to me! (It's sad that I had to hear this from Korea when I'm in the same country as it.)
I just gave an honour gift to the O(ntario)SPCA to thank a friend for some help. It really is a good cause. We have these heartbreaking ASPCA commercials on TV right now with one-eyed cats and dirty little puppies, etc:

Animals are a worthy cause. Worthier than manimals, but sometimes I give them money too. Never $100, though. That's pie for a month.
oh, I love it! Good for you! I never even heard about this place burning down, that's so freaking sad. Kudos for being on top of it and doing something about it.
