No one crushes on Cheney

This is certainly off the topic of crushes (but maybe not so much from celebrity hatred). If you haven't been reading the Washington Post's series, Angler: The Cheney Vice Presidency, I highly recommend it. They're long articles, but packed with information I didn't know before. The final section comes out tomorrow.

They are exceptionally good articles, but I will point out one thing- they do, at least to me, come off as putting forth a pretty common thought that Bush is more or less just a dumb prop with no mind of his own. I tend to disagree with that--whild I'd agree that Cheney is running the show from the sidelines, I think Bush is complicit and knows what's going on. This series just seems to make him out to be just a dupe who is easily manipulated (which I do think is partly the case). Anywys, I would wholeheartedly recommend the series.

It's hard to imagine how impeachment was taken off the table when reading it also. I mean, Clinton's little blow job isn't even on the Cheney spectrum.

I wonder what basis you have for your disagreement that Bush is not a "dumb prop." The articles seem to be well researched and contain source documents and interivews with many insiders very close not just to the White House, but specifically to Cheney and Bush. These reporters and their sources, both named and unnamed, know a lot more about what actually happens behind the scenes than most citizens would.

Yeah, after reading part 4 and thinking about it some more, it is hard to disagree with that. Oh well, maybe he is a dumb prop. But the larger point, that he is complicit, and that his own black/white, good/evil philosophy at the very least enabled the crap that goes on to go on still stands, I think. I mean, Bush is very much the sociopath, I think. I remember him making fun of a woman he put to death when he was governor of Texas. And his threats to reporters recently that, if they questioned him, the terrorists would kill their children--he's just protecting them. His philosophy is a very important factor- when you believe beyond a doubt that you are Good and that you are fighting Evil, there are NO limits--torture, secrecy, subverting democracy, etc.--you are Good and in your fight against Evil, you can't do wrong.

But you're right, it is obviously Cheney running the show behind the scenes. I stand corrected.

Then there's that whole nonsense where he claimed that the Vice Presidency is not part of the Executive Branch...
