dear fake abby

i know a guy who is really annoying. he constantly criticizes people and complains about whatever we're doing, but then afterwards he says he had fun. i want to stop hanging out with him because i'm tired of all the whining, but all his other friends have already abandoned him and i feel guilty leaving him all alone. i want to be able to tell him that if every single person he spends time with decides not to spend time with him any more, that it might not be every single other person in the world who has the problem, but i don't know how to say it without sounding really mean. please help.

Dear Spineless,

The answer is definitely to make out or something.

Dear Spineless,

No matter what you do, he's not going to take it well, so you have to be prepared for that. It sounds like he thinks the world is against him, which invariably is a self-fulfilling prophecy. So whether you take the passive-agressive route and just stop calling back, or confront him so he at least knows why people get so annoyed with him (recommended), he's going to blame you for being a bad person. You're not; but you are in an unfair relationship with someone who's taking advantage of your, well, spinelessness.

And if nothing else, just make out with him.

Bitching,
Supergroup.
